Unit 30 Distinction D1.

There are many output mediums that have been created and improved in the past few years and I will be discussing about how they have changed and the benefits of them. As you can tell, not only the look has changed but also what they can do to make it easier for you to use. I will also compare these output mediums to how they used to be 20 years ago.
I have chosen to speak about three different output mediums which are:  Mobile phones,
Printers,

Monitors.

Mobile phones: Mobile phones have changed a lot in the past few years and they are all slowly becoming very similar. When mobile phones were first created they were very big and had no screen. The only thing they were able to do is to call other people. Throughout the years, mobile phones started to improve and they then had a screen and one game that you could play. This made phones very popular. They then improved even more by adding a camera to them, they camera would be fairly bad quality and you could only save a certain amount of photos/videos onto your phone (which wasn’t a lot)

Even though a mobile phone is meant for contacting other people, more and more things have been added to them over the years. This includes other ways of contacting people such as emails and text messages. Then phones were able to download apps for social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter. Many more apps were being created to use on a mobile phone over the years and became smart phones. Most mobile phones these days all look the same and all do the same things. Almost every smart phone is now a touch screen with no buttons and has a good high quality camera. Storage on a phone has increase a lot, they now allow you to download lots of music, apps, photos and videos without having to delete other things and replace them. New ways of storing your data is being sold such as SD cards which you put in your mobile phone and this gives you extra room to save some of your data. Cameras on mobile phones are also improving a lot, the quality has improved and they now allow you to add filters to your photos instead of just taking your average photo. Also different effects can be used such as a recent update was you can do a panorama shot.

I think that mobile phones are changing and improving too fast. They should wait a while before making an update to a mobile phone and then create it, this will make it seem more popular and impressive. 
Throughout the years, our standards of mobile phones have increased rapidly. We now expect them to have good cameras, lots of storage data, verity of apps, good quality and for the phone to look attractive. This makes us spend a lot more on mobile phones than we should or want to. 

Printers: When printers were first made, they were very slow and very big. They would also make a lot of loud noise as they were printing. Automatic printers were first made after the 1800’s and they were powered by steam, however now, printers come in all sorts of styles and makes. Different examples of these models are photocopiers, laser printers and ink jet printers. Over the years printers have become smaller and they take up less space in the working place, they also their quality has improved a lot. However the better quality printer that you want will cost more money.
You are now able to change the quality on printers and they can go up to a very high quality and suit different types of paper you want to print with and different photos that you want to print. Printers have also changed a lot by being able to print your photos at home, when before you would have to take out film from a camera and take it to a shop so they can print off your photos for you. This was around 30 years ago. 
The latest type of printer that has been made is a 3D printer, which allows you to scan any object and select any colour and the printer will re-create the object made out of paper, in 3D. This however will cost lots of money to use or buy for yourself. 

Monitors: One of the biggest differences that people notice with monitors is their appearance. New features and hardware have also been updated. Monitors used to be very big and take up a lot of space when they were first made and they looked quite unattractive. They also used to have a thick, curved, glass screen which only showed things in black and white. After a few years, monitors would start to look a bit bigger due to them adding more features. A negative to these monitors were that they could release a poisonous gas if the computer was left on for too long, which would make it dangerous to have in the home or work place. 

Monitors now have become very thin and smaller which better quality. This makes it better for the person using it. Monitors are now able to show things in HD which allows people to watch movies or TV shows how they would if they were watching them on the TV. By making all these new features on the monitors, it encourages people to buy them for themselves and get the most out of their computer. 

Graphics: The graphics have changed a lot on each of these output mediums, it is mostly shown by the quality of the pictures and videos that you view. The graphics on games on mobile phones have increased by making games look more impressive and flow better while playing. The graphics also look more realistic while playing games. This also applies for monitors, monitors allow you to watch film/TV shows or play games on a bigger screen, good graphics allow you to have the same experience. These graphics also makes images on games look more realistic and more impressive. 
The graphics on printers are slightly different to mobile phones and monitors because it is mostly focused on the quality of the ink and the printer itself. Better graphics allow photos to be printed to its best standard.
